Siemens touts usability of ultrasound scanner

Siemens Healthineers said that its ultrasound scanner received high marks in a third-party test to evaluate the user experience.

Siemens hired software and design firm Macadamian to perform a comprehensive usability test on the Helx Evolution with Touch Control model of its Acuson S3000 scanner line, the vendor said. Siemens' ultrasound division commissioned the analysis to assess user satisfaction and performance with the firm's premium line of ultrasound scanners following a concerted effort at the company to improve usability.

The results show that Helx Evolution with Touch Control is easy to use, with an average 95% task completion rate and overall average rating of 4.5 out of 5 for ease of use. The system also scored 83 out of 100 on an industry-wide measure known as the system usability scale, Siemens said. The average score on the test is 68.
