The American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) appointed Dr. Allan Klein as president at its annual meeting being held this week in Seattle.
Klein is a professor of medicine at Case Western Reserve University's Lerner College of Medicine in Ohio. After serving as director of cardiovascular imaging research for more than 20 years, he is currently director of the Center for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Pericardial Diseases, the ASE said.
Strategic initiatives during his one-year presidency will include an echo registry, a leadership academy, and an expanded social media presence, according to the ASE.
Dr. Vera Rigolin of Northwestern Medicine in Chicago has been tapped as president-elect.
