Bayer and Hologic have entered a collaboration agreement to deliver a coordinated approach for contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM).
The offering brings together Bayer’s contrast-enhanced mammography contrast delivery system, called the Medrad Stellant Flex CT injection system, and Hologic’s mammography scanners. The move streamlines the purchasing process for radiologists and imaging facilities and provides setup and ongoing support, Bayer said.
CEM is a sensitive and relatively low-cost breast imaging method that can be used to support breast cancer diagnosis and help guide treatment. The technique can be performed in various clinical settings, such as inconclusive findings in previous imaging procedures, Bayer noted.
The two companies are showcasing the technology at the annual Society of Breast Imaging Symposium being held April 11 to 14 in Montreal, Canada.
