Dr. Helen C. Redman, professor and vice chairman of academic affairs in the department of radiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, passed away on March 13th after a long illness. She was 64.
Dr. Redman was a past president of the Radiological Society of North America, and a member of the American College of Radiology Boards of Trustees and Chancellors. Dr. Redman's contributions to radiology ranged from dedicated service in local, state, national, and international activities, to significant clinical and research accomplishments, including co-authorship of Gastrointestinal Radiology, now in its third edition and required reading for several generations of students.
As a founding fellow of the Society of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology, she worked to establish sub-certification and accreditation of fellowship training in cardiovascular and interventional radiology, effectively securing a firm footing for the new subspecialty.
