PARK CITY, UT -- According to research conducted by the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine at the University of Zurich in Switzerland, long-term, high-intensity, high-mileage running -- such as that practiced by bobsled sliders at the race start--may be a potential risk factor for premature osteoarthritis of the hip (British Journal of Medicine, July 1989, Vol. 29:8, pp. 91-93).
