The classic overuse injury in this sport is "tennis elbow," but a recent ultrasound study found that those patients with clinical findings of "tennis leg" had more abnormalities of the medial gastrocnemius muscle than the plantaris tendon (Radiology, July 2002, Vol. 224:1, pp. 112-119).
