Dear AuntMinnie Member,
The votes have been tallied and the results are in for the finalists in the 2006 Minnies awards.
The Minnies are AuntMinnie's way of recognizing excellence in the medical imaging community. We started with 13 categories, ranging from Most Influential Radiology Researcher to Best New Radiology Vendor, and your nominations gave us a list of over 200 candidates to compete.
In the semifinals stage, our expert panel of radiology luminaries narrowed the list down to 32 finalists. Now they'll vote one last time to choose the winners in each of the races. The top vote-getters will receive the adulation of their peers, as well as elegant trophies to be presented at this year's RSNA meeting in Chicago.
Which institution will win the coveted honor as Best Radiologist Training Program -- the Mayo Clinic or the University of California, San Francisco?
Which company will take the award for Best New Radiology Device -- defending champion Siemens Medical Solutions with its Somatom Definition dual-source CT scanner, or Fuji Medical Systems USA with its FCRm computed radiography mammography system?
And which of the three contestants -- Commissure, CardiArc, or Spectrum Dynamics -- will be named Best New Radiology Vendor?
We'll find out the answers in coming weeks. Until then, check out the list of Minnies finalists at minnies.auntminnie.com. To see the full list of candidates, just click here.
