Top 10 stories from ECR 2008

Dear AuntMinnie Member,

The European Congress of Radiology (ECR) wrapped up last week as over 17,000 radiology professionals from more than 94 countries gathered in picturesque Vienna for five days of education, interaction, commerce, and culture.

Since settling permanently into Vienna in 1991 and by converting into an annual format in 1999, the ECR has developed into the premier pan-European imaging conference on the Continent. The meeting's scientific program has improved apace, with 1,800 lectures delivered at this year's meeting and several hundred more poster presentations -- all available online for members of the European Society of Radiology at the society's Web site.

The focus of this year's meeting was on women's health, which was evident from much of the scientific content presented at the show. ECR presentations focused on the new generation of digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) systems under clinical investigation, while other studies highlighted the effectiveness of MR mammography in high-risk women

Radiation dose has always been a concern to European radiologists, as witnessed by presentations on cardiac CT prospective gating and dose in computed radiography exams. Other sessions ranged from virtual colonoscopy for flat polyps to 7-tesla MRI for marathon runners.

It was a pleasure bringing you this year's coverage of the conference in our RADCast @ ECR, and as a parting farewell we offer you a list of the top 10 most viewed articles from the meeting, as measured by traffic generated by AuntMinnie members. Auf Wiedersehen!
