Website updates effective February 1, 2013

We are making some updates beginning February 1, 2013, to keep up with the web publishing industry. Here's a list of what we're doing to make our website more user- and advertiser-friendly.

Layout Changes for Exclusive Sponsorships

As part of our ongoing effort to keep the layout fresh and accessible via multiple readers and devices, we will be updating our site layout and adding new ad banner sizes in accordance with the Interactive Advertising Bureau's (IAB.net) standards. For our exclusively sponsored sections, we will be offering the following new ad packages:

  • 300x1050 Portrait (P14 Portrait)
  • 300x600 Half Page, non-expandable (P15 Half Page)
  • 300x600 Expandable/Retractable (P15 Half Page)
  • 970x90 Super Leaderboard (P16 Super Leaderboard)

We will be phasing out some of our existing community layouts in favor of the new design; after February 1, 2013, we will no longer accept new sponsorships for layouts using the 180x150 (P10) and 728x90 (P09) banners. Please refer to our updated Banner Specification document for exclusively sponsored sections for more information.

Layout Changes for Non-Exclusive, Run-of-Site Sponsors

New ad sizes will be introduced for our non-exclusive sponsors as well.

  • 300x600 Half Page, non-expandable (P15 Half Page)
  • 300x600 Expandable/Retractable (P15 Half Page)
  • 970x90 Super Leaderboard (P16 Super Leaderboard)

For more information please refer to our updated banner specification for non-exclusive run-of-site banners.

Third-Party Ad Server Support

Beginning in February we will offer support for some third-party banners that appear in our exclusively sponsored sections, so that sponsors can take advantage of more advanced media banners, as well as independent tracking for the agencies handling such accounts.

New Ad Tools

To help our sponsors better utilize the new ad sizes, IMV will be offering a new set of tools to make it easier for sponsors to reach the AuntMinnie members with their message. The new tool set will include an image slider, a Twitter feed display, a video player, and much more.

Page width increase

Most of our web pages are built with a maximum width of 700 pixels, but we're expanding our girth along with the higher resolution screens. We're increasing our page width to 970 pixels to accommodate the new banner sizes.

Newsletters

The width of our newsletters will remain the same. Many of our members use email clients like Gmail, Yahoo, and Hotmail. These browser-based email clients have their own content on the sides of the screen, and do not leave much room for the mail content in the middle.
