Week in Review: A look back at ISMRM 2019 | Deep learning for MRI | Search for jobs on AuntMinnie

Dear AuntMinnie Member,

The International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) meeting just wrapped up in Montreal, and we hope you enjoyed our coverage of the proceedings in our RADCast @ ISMRM.

Deep learning was a hot topic at ISMRM 2019, as it has been at many other medical imaging meetings. In fact, our article about a talk by Dr. Bradley Erickson, PhD, from the Mayo Clinic on deep learning and MRI was our top story from the conference. Check out which five clinical applications he thinks are most exciting.

Another popular article came from the Society for MR Radiographers & Technologists (SMRT) meeting, which took place in Montreal just prior to ISMRM. Savannah Partridge, PhD, of the University of Washington discussed a protocol for faster breast MRI scans that could boost use of the modality for breast cancer detection.

We were also pleased to highlight video interviews with ISMRM speakers and luminaries from the conference. We talked with Larry Wald, PhD, about plans to develop portable MRI scanners; Dr. Pia Sundgren, PhD, ISMRM 2019 president, about the society's ongoing efforts to promote diversity and inclusion; and Dr. Daniel Sodickson, PhD, about some of the forces that are disrupting MRI -- for the better.

Get all the news from Montreal at our RADCast @ ISMRM, and make sure to check back for follow-up coverage from the world of MRI.
