Week in review: ECR 2023 RadCast | A different perspective on burnout | PET and AI for lung cancer staging

Dear AuntMinnie Member,

The European Congress of Radiology (ECR) wrapped up on Sunday in Vienna, and the buzz was certainly back at Austria Center Vienna. The return to the conference's traditional late-winter time slot was certainly well-received, as attendees crowded the exhibition and the meeting rooms over the course of the week.

AuntMinnie.com's editorial team filed daily articles and video interviews throughout the congress, and our most popular story so far featured sage advice by ECR 2023 President Dr. Adrian Brady. In the opening session, Brady offered his suggestions for how to have a long and fulfilling career in radiology.

Other articles from ECR 2023 generating the most page views this week included a primer for radiologists on using social media and a story detailing how virtual reality and postmortem imaging bring crime scenes to life.

Be sure to stop by our special RadCast section for these and all of our current coverage from the meeting.

A different perspective on burnout

Meanwhile, our most highly viewed story on AuntMinnie.com this week offered a different perspective on the issue of burnout among radiologists. In a new column, imaging consultant Michael J. Cannavo -- the PACSman -- shared his thoughts on burnout and what can be done about it.

You can find his article here, or by visiting our Imaging Leaders Community.

PET and AI for lung cancer staging

Also, researchers have found that an artificial intelligence (AI) model based on routine data from F-18 FDG-PET/CT scans was able to assess mediastinal lymph node metastases in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) more accurately than visual PET scores.
