Image analysis software developer Perspectum Diagnostics has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for its LiverMultiScan postprocessing software for MRI of the liver, delivered through a cloud-based service.
LiverMultiScan may now be used on a wider range of scanners, including compatible Siemens Healthineers and Philips Healthcare MRI systems, to help clinicians quantitatively measure liver tissue to assist with diagnosing liver disease, according to the firm.
Using multiparametric mapping techniques, the software enables noninvasive and quantitative liver tissue characterization to quantify liver fat, as well as T2* and iron-corrected T1. The technology is scalable and can be integrated into existing MRI exams, without the need for a contrast agent, the company noted.
