Graphics processing unit (GPU) technology developer Nvidia has formed an artificial intelligence (AI) research partnership with the Scripps Research Translational Institute in San Diego.
Nvidia and Scripps will establish a center of excellence for AI in genomics and digital health sensors such as smartwatches, blood pressure cuffs, and glucose monitors. They plan to develop AI and deep-learning best practices, tools, and infrastructure in hopes of accelerating AI applications that use genomics and digital sensors, according to Nvidia.
The initial project for the partnership will utilize a research cohort of more than 1 million U.S. participants to study the intersection of biology, genetics, environment, data science, and computation, the company said.
