Week in Review: RSNA 2018 wraps up | Hot stories from Chicago

Dear AuntMinnie Member,

What a week! The 2018 edition of the RSNA meeting wrapped up in Chicago, and from the scientific sessions to the technical exhibits it was chock full of major new discoveries and educational events.

As was the case at RSNA 2017, artificial intelligence (AI) was top of mind in the halls of McCormick Place. But a quick look at the most-read articles during the week shows that many other issues are also grabbing the attention of radiology professionals.

For example, the accumulation of trace levels of gadolinium after administration of MRI contrast agents continues to be a serious topic, as evidenced by views of our video interview with Dr. Robert McDonald, PhD, of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Job-related issues are also important, as indicated by the strong response to our interview with management recruiting expert Daniel Corbett on the hot job market for radiologists and a Monday article on how to mitigate radiologist burnout.

In keeping with the AI theme, our story on the use of an AI algorithm to avoid unnecessary thyroid biopsies proved popular, as did our coverage of the opening session on Sunday, in which RSNA 2018 President Dr. Vijay Rao discussed how radiology needs to embrace technologies such as AI to thrive in the future.

We hope you enjoyed our coverage of RSNA 2018 as much as we enjoyed bringing it to you. Hopefully your trip home from Chicago was safe and speedy.

Thanks for reading!
