Japan's Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare has approved Fujifilm Healthcare's AI algorithm for chest x-ray analysis CXR-AID for reimbursement. The algorithm is based on AI software developer Lunit's Insight CXR.
The reimbursement will be provided under the ministry's "Imaging Diagnosis Reimbursement Class 3" category, Lunit said. The clearance has prompted the Japan Radiological Society (JRS) to release a guideline that outlines AI implementation in hospitals and a list of medical AI software eligible for health insurance reimbursement, according to the firm.
