Web-based image management developer Amicas has announced several new customers, including New York Presbyterian Medical Center (comprising Columbia and Cornell hospitals).
In addition, MRI Centers of New England has implemented Amicas' new per-study subscription model to operate in Rhode Island. Rather than pay a flat licensing fee, as many of Amicas' customers have done in the past, MRI Centers of New England will pay from $2 to $4 per study (i.e., per set of patient images), depending on the total number of studies the facility does that year, according to Amicas CEO Hamid Tabatabaie.
Amicas also announced several partnerships through its partner Sunquest Information Systems, which incorporates Amicas' image software in its radiology and healthcare information systems. The University of Arizona, Sutter Health Systems in Northern California, St. Mary's Hospital in Georgia, and Texas Health Resources will all be deploying Amicas' software.
In other Amicas developments, the Newton, MA-based vendor has received $4.5 million in financing from a group of investors led by Radius Ventures, based in New York City. Other investment partners include Portage Ventures and Garrett Capital/First Chicago.
