PACS and CR vendor Agfa has completed its purchase of a majority position in European radiology information systems software developer Quadrat. Now that the sale is complete, the two firms are proceeding with the integration of RIS technology into Agfa’s Impax PACS software, according to Agfa and Quadrat.
The deal deepens Agfa's commitment to the European marketplace and represents the firm’s first step toward an electronic patient record, according to John Glass, general manager of Agfa’s medical imaging business.
Agfa, of Mortsel, Belgium, manages over 400 PACS installations worldwide, many of which are in the Nordic region, Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and other European countries, according to the vendor. Quadrat, of Deurle, Belgium, has installed over 140 RIS networks throughout Europe and the rest of the world.
