Telemedicine company MDvista will link the medical community in the Philippines with imaging specialists in the U.S. through a venture called PhilWeb-MDvista.
The Fremont, CA-based company entered into a joint agreement with PhilWeb.com of Makati City, Philippines, to launch an online diagnostic clinic in Manila that will offer teleradiology services, including image interpretations by U.S. clinicians.
The new company also will establish an informational site specific to Filipino clinicians who work in remote locations and who do not currently have easy access to clinical information.
Finally, PhilWeb-MDvista will serve as a referral mechanism for patients in the Philippines and Asia to U.S. hospitals, and will assist with travel arrangements and lodging.
PhilWeb-MDvista will be based in Makati City. Robert Ongpin, the chairman of PhilWeb.com, and Dr. Antonio Chan, founder, chairman, and CEO of MDvista, will serve as co-chairs of the new company. The new venture will mark MDvista’s first foray into providing teleradiology services in the Pacific Rim and Asia.
