Film digitizer manufacturer Vidar Systems introduced a new "plus" line of digitizers at last month’s RSNA meeting. The products feature the latest version of Herndon, VA-based Vidar's high-definition charge-coupled device (HD-CCD) technology, and a new automatic digitizer calibration (ADC) capability. ADC automatically recalibrates the digitizer every five seconds, according to Vidar.
The product enhancements are featured in Vidar’s Sierra plus, DiagnosticPro plus, and MammographyPro plus digitizers. Sierra plus is priced under $10,000 and weighs only 15 pounds, according to Vidar. DiagnosticPro plus includes 44-micron resolution for mammography digitizing as a standard feature. This feature was previously available only as a $4,000 option, according to the company.
In keeping with Vidar's obsolescence protection program, the company announced it will upgrade all previously sold DiagnosticPro, Sierra, and MammographyPro digitizers at no cost.
