Howtek debuts two digitizers

Film digitizer manufacturer Howtek released two new digitizers at last month’s RSNA meeting. Featuring variable resolution up to 4K (292 dots per inch), MultiRad 460 is designed for telemedicine, emergency room, on-call radiology, digital imaging, and digital workflow applications, according to the Hudson, NH-based company.

MultiRad 860 offers increased resolutions of up to 8K (584 dots per inch), and is designed for applications benefiting from additional image information, such as computer-assisted diagnosis of breast cancer, according to Howtek.

MultiRad 460 and 860 feature an extended 3.85 optical density (OD) range and a spatial resolution of up to 5.75 lp/mm and 11.5 lp/mm, respectively. In addition, both digitizers include the company’s SureFeed 60 film-feeding mechanism, which softly grips the film and drives it through the feeder, according to the vendor. Howtek claims that SureFeed 60 reduces film misfeeds and double feeds.

MultiRad 460 has a suggested retail price of $16,995, while MultiRad 860 has a suggested retail price of $19,995. Both products include a limited two-year warranty, according to Howtek.
