GE Medical Systems reported double-digit growth in operating profit in 2000, according to year-end financial reports. In fourth-quarter (end-December 31) highlights, the Waukesha, WI-based vendor posted a 19% increase in orders. X-ray purchases, led by digital x-ray systems, grew 41%, while PET orders climbed 127%.
More than $10 million worth of software was downloaded by GE’s customers during the period through the company’s new e-Flex-trial offering, according to the vendor. In addition, GE closed eight acquisitions during the quarter, including nuclear medicine firm SMV and patient-monitoring firm Critikon.
