eMed Technologies will sponsor a free, interactive forum on PACS for IT professionals next week in New Orleans, the site of this year's Healthcare Information Management Systems Society conference. The forum, entitled "What Every IT Professional Needs to Know about PACS," is designed to provide necessary information for healthcare IS and IT managers, CIOs, and other IT professionals who are either currently evaluating PACS or are planning to purchase PACS in the next year, according to eMed.
In a presentation by Michael Cannavo, president of Image Management Consultants of Winter Springs, FL, the session will cover such topics as the role of the IT professional in a PACS implementation, local and wide area network considerations, and Web-based image transmission.
The session will also include information on clinical systems interface issues (including DICOM and HL-7), digital image archiving, facilities planning, application service providers (ASPs), and the role of PACS in an integrated hospital-wide information and image management system, among other topics.
Three individual sessions will be offered: Tuesday, February 5 at 1 p.m., and on Wednesday, February 6 at 8 a.m. and at 3 p.m. The sessions will be held at the Courtyard by Marriott at 300 Julia St., which is directly opposite the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, the site of the HIMSS conference.
Each discussion group is limited to 30 attendees, who must pre-register with eMed, either by phone (866-363-3669) or in person at eMed’s booth at HIMSS.
