VIENNA - Film and PACS vendor Eastman Kodak of Rochester, NY, is highlighting its integrated PACS/RIS at this week’s European Congress of Radiology. The company has also made the first European installations of its new digital radiography systems.
Kodak laid the foundation for the integrated PACS/RIS through its purchase of European RIS provider Computer Knowledge (CKI). In its ECR booth, Kodak used the RIS as the foundation for a network that enables the firm to send data throughout the booth, simulating a hospital PACS environment, according to the company. Kodak is selling the integrated product line as PARIS, and amalgam of "PACS" and "RIS."
On the image acquisition side, Kodak’s European customers are getting their first look at DirectView DR 9000, a new U-arm-based digital radiography system designed for general-purpose and trauma radiology. Kodak announced at the ECR conference that one of the first DR 9000 systems has been installed at a Swedish hospital, Hospital of Helsingborg. The facility is also installing a DR 5000 system, designed for chest and upright imaging.
