Philips unveils new products at ACC

Philips Medical Systems North America has chosen the annual American College of Cardiology meeting (ACC) in Orlando, FL, to showcase three new offerings to the cardiac community.

The BV Pulsera, a mobile C-arm launched at the European Congress of Radiology in Vienna two weeks ago, makes its U.S. debut. The unit features a 12-inch triple-mode image intensifier and acquires images using up to 30 pulses per second for dynamic applications such as cardiac screening, stenting, and pacemaker implementation, according to Philips.

A revamped Integris Allura, a cardiovascular catheterization lab system for coronary and peripheral x-ray procedures, is also being demonstrated to ACC attendees. Company officials are touting the system’s new dose-management capability that provides beam filtration and dose reduction by reducing soft radiation that would otherwise be absorbed by the patient.

The Shelton, CT-based manufacturer is using the ACC as a platform to launch release 2 of its Inturis cardiology PACS product. The Inturis suite release 2 features a multivendor DICOM interface to integrate other cath lab equipment into the PACS.

It also has automatic DICOM archiving that company representatives say is designed to meet international medical data-storage requirements. In addition, Philips has upgraded Inturis to include support for Microsoft Windows 2000, new image post-processing algorithms, and simultaneous multiuser capabilities.
