PACS vendor Agfa is now offering storage systems and software from Hopkinton, MA-based EMC along with its Impax PACS product line.
The first Agfa customer to deploy EMC technology will be the William Beaumont Hospital System in Royal Oak, MI, according to Agfa of Ridgefield Park, NJ. William Beaumont will use a combination of Agfa's PACS and EMC's Symmetrix platform, according to Paul Peabody, William Beaumont vice president and CIO. Initially, the hospital will be able to store up to a year's worth of images for speedy image access for radiologists and physicians, he said.
The facility plans to migrate to Agfa's PACS this month, adding Beaumont's HIS to the configuration later this year. A remote center will be established late next year to provide complete redundancy for the entire system.
