Merge books profitable Q2

PACS and connectivity firm Merge Technologies moved into the black in its second quarter. The Milwaukee-based firm had revenues of $3.8 million, up 8% compared with the $3.3 million posted in the second quarter of 2000. For the period (end-June 30), Merge had a net income of $233,000, compared with a net loss of $879,000 last year.

Among quarterly highlights, Merge began clinical trials of its MergeView image distribution software application. Looking ahead, Merge remains on track to book 2001 revenues of between $15 million to $15.5 million, according to president and CEO Richard Linden. The company also expects to increase profitability in the second half of the year, he said.
