PACS provider eMed Technologies has released version 2.0 of its eMed.net Web-based image and results distribution software. eMed.net v2.0 includes enhancements that improve referring physician workflow and broaden the software's applications to include radiologist on-call viewing, according to the Lexington, MA-based vendor.
New features include a new user interface for radiologist and specialist study viewing efficiency, and new study navigation features such as compare mode, scout-line display, slice cross-reference, and synchronized stacking. The new release also includes SpeedStream technology for fast time-to-study performance, study selection from a shared exam list for workload balancing within radiology groups, and improved security features and administrative tools for complying with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), according to eMed.
The software release is available in two packages: eMed.net onCall and eMed.net enterprise. eMed.net onCall is a standalone teleradiology server that receives DICOM images, offers lossless and lossy wavelet compression, supports DICOM query/retrieve, and serves images to Web clients via the Internet and to DICOM viewing applications over POTS/ISDN, according to eMed.
eMed.net enterprise is a HIPAA-compliant product for image and results distribution to specialists’ offices, hospital departments, and referring physician practices, according to eMed. Both eMed.net onCall and eMed.net enterprise can be purchased as a software-only package, or as an integrated turnkey product.
