Swedish PACS provider Sectra showed strong financial gains in its second fiscal quarter (end-October 31). The Stockholm-based firm posted net income of $1.3 million, a 151% increase over the $520,000 reported in Q1. Sales also rose significantly in Q2: Sectra reported revenues of $8.9 million, 62% higher than the $5.5 million logged in the first quarter.
The company credited an advanced technology base and strong customer acceptance, both in Sweden and internationally, for the growth. On the clinical front, Sectra's new full-field digital mammography (FFDM) system, Sectra MicroDose Mammography, has entered clinical trials. The system will be one of several FFDM products to be included in a large U.S. study to compare the efficacy of standard film-screen mammography vs. FFDM, the company said.
