Information systems provider Cerner reported record fourth-quarter revenues of $151.8 million, up 27% compared with the $119.6 million posted in the same period in 2000. For the quarter (end-December 29), the Kansas City-based firm had net earnings of $11 million, compared with net earnings of $7.7 million (before nonrecurring items) in the fourth quarter of 2000.
For the year, Cerner had revenues of $542.6 million, up 24% compared with the $404.5 million in 2000. The vendor had net earnings (before nonrecurring items) of $34.2 million, compared with $20.4 million in 2000.
Looking ahead, the healthcare vendor is raising its earnings-per-share guidance for 2002 to $1.27 to $1.31, up from previous estimates of $1.20 to $1.25. The firm also said it's comfortable with analysts' revenue estimates of $660 million to $680 million, up from previous guidance of $630 million.
