South San Francisco, CA-based Stentor has signed an agreement with IBM to have Stentor clients’ backup images stored at an IBM data center. IBM will also handle remote servicing of Stentor customer sites.
The announcement was made this week at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) meeting in Atlanta.
Stentor’s iSite image and information management system uses image-streaming technology to deliver diagnostic-quality images over existing hospital information technology networks. Prior to the IBM deal, Stentor stored its clients’ backup images on servers at its own corporate headquarters.
Under the agreement, Stentor is running its iSite product line on an IBM Web application server, which hosts customer data onsite. Backup images are stored on an IBM linear tape open (LTO) tape library at an IBM data center in San Jose, CA.
Stentor has also purchased support services from IBM Global Services as part of the deal.
