Nonprofit research services company ECRI has ranked eight PACS vendors in the January issue of the Plymouth Meeting, PA-based firm's Health Devices journal. ECRI scrutinized the basic design and operation of the eight systems, and examined their internal integration capabilities. The group also rated how well each system supports the needs of referring physicians.
Also included is an analysis on the quality of each supplier's professional services and related support. ECRI said that many of the systems it surveyed had taken significant steps towards achieving a fully automated workflow that would allow images and other patient data to move seamlessly from one information system to another in an electronic medical record. The report can be ordered at the ECRI's Web site.
