GE Medical Systems Information Technologies and Indiana University School of Medicine have opened the Radiology Enterprise Wide Archive Retrieval and Distribution System Institute (REWARDS), a new learning center designed for digital radiology imaging education and research.
The Institute will support a research program, a customer learning center, and be a showcase site for the Waukesha, WI-based vendor's PACS. Located in a new $7 million facility in downtown Indianapolis, the institute will begin offering courses in April.
The customer learning center, being jointly funded and developed by GE and IU Radiology Associates, will offer image management educational and training programs for hospitals, as well as a freestanding imaging center. GE is also funding the institute for research projects related to behavioral and technical aspects of radiology information technologies.
