Storage firm EMC of Hopkinton, MA, has released new storage products for the healthcare industry.
The vendor's Symmetrix DMX-3 information storage platform provides 1 petabyte of data storage capability and scales both up and down for increased flexibility. DMX-3 is also available in a low-end configuration, the company said.
EMC has upgraded its Centera product with content-addressed storage (CAS) capabilities. This includes event-based retention and litigation hold software, giving healthcare providers more control over information retention periods to enable stricter adherence to HIPAA compliance or governance requirements, EMC said. In addition, Centera's event-based retention feature allows the retention period to begin on discharge, and is automatically set for seven years, as mandated by HIPAA, according to the firm.
A new Rainfinity file virtualization tool improves the management of information across network-attached storage (NAS) environments, EMC said. The application removes restrictions imposed by individual NAS systems, allowing healthcare providers to manage all NAS systems across an enterprise.
