Agfa HealthCare is introducing Impax Mobile at this week's Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) meeting in San Diego.
Impax Mobile is a Web-deployable thin-client network designed to provide secure wireless image distribution, according to the Greenville, SC-based vendor. It allows basic PACS and 3D functionality to be provided in real-time to mobile devices such as PDAs or notebook computers, Agfa said. Impax Mobile can be installed as an extension to existing PACS installations as well as a component of Impax 6.0.
In other HIMSS news, Agfa released version 3.1 of its TalkStation speech recognition software, showcased at the 2005 RSNA meeting in Chicago.
The company also said that more than 100 sites around the world have signed on to use the vendor's Impax 6.0 PACS network. Agfa launched the system at the 2005 RSNA meeting.
One Agfa customer, Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, ME, has purchased Agfa's Impax RIS and Master Patient Index (MPI) for integration with its existing Impax PACS network. The purchases have allowed the institution to create an imaging regional health information organization (RHIO), Agfa said.
