Cedara Software of Mississauga, Ontario, will be showcasing its OrthoWorks ProPlanner, an application that provides orthopedic capabilities on standard and Web-enabled PACS workstations, at the 2006 American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) conference in Chicago next week.
The product, in a soon-to-be-released workstation or customizable plug-in application, provides support for deformity corrections, trauma, and customized planning methodologies, according to Cedara, a unit of Merge Healthcare of Milwaukee. It incorporates the developer's Image Stitching capabilities, which allows users to stitch together two or more images using a number of methods to ensure that cases requiring long film x-rays can still be digitally planned, Cedara said.
Also featured in OrthoWorks ProPlanner is Image Cutting, which allows surgeons to cut and reposition fractured bone fragments to visualize potential surgical changes, and ImageSnap, which enables automatic measurements with suggested implant selection and placement. The application includes automatic reporting that manages information such as patient demographics, technical notes, key images with templates and measurements, and implant ordering information, the company said.
