Agfa HealthCare of Greenville, SC, announced it has received two contracts to install its PACS products in Canada and the U.K.
Agfa has reached an agreement with the Réseau Universitaire Intégré de Santé (RUIS) Laval and RUIS Sherbrooke regions of Quebec, Canada, to install is Impax PACS and diagnostic imaging repository (DI-r) products. The deal is estimated to be worth about $60 million Canadian and includes five years of support and an option for two additional years.
Agfa's Impax installation for RUIS Laval will include 51 sites and a large-scale regional image repository that will acquire, store, and manage 2.3 million patient exams per year, making it one of the largest PACS installations in Canada, Agfa said. Every hospital in each region will have a local PACS connected to its own modalities and information systems, and will then store a copy of every exam to the regional DI-r for permanent storage.
Agfa has also signed a 1.5 million pound contract with Classic Hospitals, a group of 10 facilities in Reading, U.K., for its Impax 6.2. The company will also install its CR 35-X computed radiography (CR) system in each facility for general and mammography digital imaging. The installation will begin in December, and Agfa expects the process to be complete by March 2007.
