Pegasus releases JPEG 2000 Part 2 for 3D volumetric encoding

Image compression firm Pegasus Imaging of Tampa, FL, has launched JPEG 2000 Part 2 - 3D volumetric encoding as part of its PICTools MedX Software Development Kit (SDK).

JPEG 2000 Part 2 - 3D slices volumetric encoding supports 24-bit RGB and 8- to 16-bit grayscale medical images. Software developers can compress and decompress images using the package, and JPEG 2000 Part 2 supports both Lossy and Lossless modes, as well as JPEG 2000 raw codestream and JPEG 2000 JPX format.
