Monitor manufacturer NEC Electronics America of Santa Clara, CA, has introduced two new 21.3-inch amorphous silicon thin-film transistor (TFT) LCD modules from NEC LCD Technologies.
The first module is a 6-megapixel monochrome unit with a resolution of 2800 x 2100 pixels, making it suitable for high-resolution radiographic image applications such as digital mammography. It features a wide viewing angle and offers an aspect ratio of 4:3, luminance of 100 candelas per square meter (cd/m²), and contrast of 1000:1. NEC expects to begin shipping the module in January 2007.
The second module is a 2-megapixel monochrome unit with extended graphics array resolution and a luminance level of 1700 cd/m², and is designed for applications such as interpreting x-ray images. It features a contrast ratio of 850:1, and is available now.
