AuntMinnie.com PACS Insider

Dear PACS Insider,

It's always wise to read the fine print in contracts. But many PACS purchasers may be ignoring that sage advice, according to PACS consultant Michael Cannavo.

In the latest edition of his Exploring PACS Secrets series, Cannavo discusses some less than beneficial provisions commonly included in PACS contracts. For example, the language used to describe uptime guarantees (and their associated penalties) may not be as tough on the vendor as it seems.

In another potential pitfall, some warranties may be worded to begin upon signing the contract, rather than after the PACS installation, Cannavo said. With installations often taking place months after signing, that one-year warranty may not offer as much protection as the customer anticipates.
