Philips to acquire Raytel

Dutch industrial conglomerate Royal Philips Electronics plans to acquire Windsor, CT-based home cardiac monitoring services provider Raytel Cardiac Services from SHL Telemedicine, the company reported.

The $110 million deal will bring Raytel into the Philips Home Healthcare Solutions fold, and is a further step in the company's strategy of improving patient outcomes in specific healthcare areas such as cardiology, Philips said. Philips plans to grow Raytel by capitalizing on its relationships with 15,000 referring physicians and cardiologists who serve more than 200,000 patients each year.
