Merge telerad program gets Joint Commission approval

Healthcare IT and advanced visualization developer Merge Healthcare's teleradiology division has been awarded the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for its compliance with the national standard for healthcare quality and safety.

On November 20, the Milwaukee-based company introduced a new teleradiology application called Merge TeleRead, and a new teleradiology service, Consult PreReads, an image prereading service from its newly formed Merge Healthcare Teleradiology division.

Consult PreReads are provided by radiologists based at a facility in Pune, India. Radiologists at the facility supply reports and key images that appear in the work queue of U.S.-based radiologists, who complete the official final read and issue signed reports to referring physicians.
