Dear PACS Insider,
The ability to offer referring physicians ready access to medical images is one of the most attractive features of PACS. But how long do physicians need these older images for their clinical routine?
At the University Medical Center Groningen in the Netherlands, clinicians accessing images older than a year sought images between one and two years old in 48% of cases. And in 22% of the cases, referring physicians wanted access to images between two and three years old, according to Peter Van Ooijen.
He presented the study team's research during a scientific session at the recent RSNA meeting in Chicago. Our coverage of the talk is the subject of this month's Insider Exclusive article. As a PACS Insider, you have access to the story before it is published for the rest of our AuntMinnie.com members. To learn more about referring physician access to old images, click here.
