Dear Professional Media Insider,
It's ironic that an environment dedicated to healing the sick -- such as a hospital -- can also be a source of safety hazards for healthcare personnel and patients.
Dealing with hazards in the healthcare environment is the subject of the third and final course in our Online College of PACS Administration, featuring guest lecturer Herman Oosterwijk of OTech of Aubrey, TX. In our current course, Mr. Oosterwijk details the hazards commonly found in healthcare facilities, ranging from electrical hazards to ionizing radiation to risks from magnetic fields, and describes how you can protect yourself and your coworkers.
Don't think dealing with such risks is part of your job description? You might be surprised to find out that healthcare hazards are covered in Section D of the clinical engineering section of the upcoming Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP) test on September 26.
