Amicas finalizes Emageon deal

PACS vendor Amicas of Boston has completed its acquisition of Emageon and now owns 100% of the Birmingham, AL, firm.

On April 1 Amicas had purchased 88% of Emageon's common stock via a tender offer, and on April 2 it acquired the rest of the shares under the terms of the deal. Emageon has become a wholly owned subsidiary of Amicas, and Emageon's shares will no longer trade on the Nasdaq market.

The combined company has more than 1,000 customers and offers image and information management software including radiology PACS, cardiology PACS, radiology information systems, cardiology information systems, revenue cycle management systems, referring physician tools, business intelligence tools, and electronic medical record-enabling enterprise content management.
