Siemens Healthcare of Malvern, PA, and international communications and information technology firm Harris of Melbourne, FL, are collaborating on PACS disaster recovery technology.
Siemens' Image and Knowledge Management (IKM) business unit and Harris have created an initiative to provide access to dedicated fiber-optic, microwave, satellite communications, and landlines that are part of the Harris wide area network. The network will connect local PACS deployments to the disaster recovery capabilities at the Harris network operations facilities.
Siemens IKM offerings encompass RIS, PACS, cardiovascular PACS, advanced imaging, and computer-aided detection products.
The announcement came at this week's Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) meeting in Chicago.
