Virtual Radiologic turns in strong Q2

An increase in its customer base helped propel teleradiology services provider Virtual Radiologic to an 18% revenue gain in its second quarter.

For the period (end-June 30), the Minneapolis-based firm had revenue of $30.6 million, up from $25.9 million reported in the second quarter of 2008. The company had net income of $2.4 million, compared with net income of $2 million last year.

Virtual Radiologic attributed the revenue gains primarily to a 16% increase in the number of hospitals and medical facilities it serves, which now number 1,085. Based on its strong results so far in 2009, the firm said it's increasing its full-year revenue guidance to a range of $118 million to $120 million, up from previous estimates of $113 million to $117 million.
