Revenue from the company's acquisition of Emageon helped PACS vendor Amicas report sharply higher sales for its second quarter (end-June 30), although the company's net loss ballooned.
For the period, Amicas posted revenue of $23.5 million, up 73% compared to $13.6 million in the same period the year before. The most recent quarter included nearly three full months of revenue from the Emageon acquisition, which Amicas finalized on April 2.
The Boston company's net loss grew sharply, however, to $6.6 million in the second quarter, compared with a net loss of $97,000 in the corresponding quarter of 2008.
