Dear PACS Insider,
PACS audit logs are useful for ensuring compliance with HIPAA. But they can also yield a veritable treasure trove of data for those seeking to improve radiology department operations.
In a pair of presentations at the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) annual meeting, representatives from Louisiana State University (LSU) Health Sciences Center in Shreveport and Staten Island University Hospital in New York City shared their respective experiences with mining their PACS audit data.
At LSU, analysis and tracking of audit logs have produced measurable quality improvements, while Staten Island has benefited from access to real-time statistics and a radiologist locator tool.
Our coverage of the PACS audit talks is the subject of this month's PACS Digital Community Insider Exclusive article, which you can access before it's published for the rest of our AuntMinnie.com members.
