Dear PACS Insider,
The job of a PACS administrator isn't an easy one. Facing a multitude of problems today and almost certainly in the future, administrators, fortuntately, can call upon a range of new technological advances to help them deal with challenges.
Ultimately, however, technology is only a tool for addressing PACS problems. It's up to the PACS administrator to find the solution, according to Skip Kennedy of Kaiser Permanente Medical Group in Sacramento, CA.
He shared his thoughts on the top 10 PACS problems during a talk at the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) meeting earlier this month. Our coverage of the presentation is the subject of this month's Insider Exclusive, which you can access before it is published for the rest of our AuntMinnie.com members by clicking here.
In other coverage from SIIM, learn more about the advances in imaging informatics over the past year, developments in business analytics, lessons from an analysis of imported images, and why quality control is so important when importing images.
You can also find out why some feel PACS is to blame for the commoditization of radiology. And discover how advances in consumer IT have the potential to drive the next generation of imaging informatics products and electronic health records.
Also from the SIIM meeting, learn more about the continuum of PACS and advanced visualization integration by clicking here. Be sure to check back in the coming weeks for further coverage from SIIM.
In other news, the Medical Imaging and Technology Alliance thinks that medical imaging should be included in the U.S. IT stimulus program -- get the details by clicking here.
