Fuji combines units, hits FFDM milestone

Fujfilm Medical Systems USA of Stamford, CT, will absorb Fuji's Problem Solving Concepts (ProSolv) and Empiric Systems subsidiaries, effective August 2.

The integration strengthens Fujfilm Medical Systems USA's capacity for product development and further business expansion, while also streamlining and consolidating business functions to boost efficiencies, according to the company.

Fuji acquired cardiology PACS developer ProSolv of Indianapolis in December 2006 and RIS firm Empiric Systems of Morrisville, NC, in November 2008. ProSolv's cardiology PACS is now marketed as Synapse cardiovascular, while Empiric's RIS is sold as Synapse RIS.

In other Fuji news, the company has sold more than 1,000 Aspire ClearView full-field digital mammography (FFDM) systems in the U.S. Recent installs include Mammography Specialists Medical Group in Los Gatos, CA; Greenville Hospital System in Greenville, SC; and Encompass Medical Group in Kansas City, MO.
